Yuki-BAR Results

Many thanks to the racers, volunteers, Camp Hanes staff, Yadkin Adventures staff, and Moore Springs trail caretakers who made the Yuki-BAR a success! We set out two demanding courses with plenty of adventure and challenge. We'd love to hear what the racers thought was the highlight of the course - please leave a comment below. Was it the zipline ride over the lake? Was it fording the Yadkin River with your bikes? Was it the view from the top of Pilot Mountain's Little Pinnacle? Was it the quick ride down a fast-flowing Yadkin? Was it the mid-race biscuits and coffee at the Rockford General Store?

The courses were designed as a series of Sections. Each Section featured a particular discipline. CP's in each Section could be punched in any order, but the Sections were to be done in order. A couple of teams added in another Section that involved a sit-down breakfast at CJ's Cafe in Pinnacle, NC. Total possible points were 2400 for the 24 hour course and 1200 for the 12 hour course.

The verified results are listed in the table below, and in these links to the details.

Yuki-BAR Boat Options

If you need or want to rent a canoe or kayak for the Yuki-BAR, Yadkin River Adventures is your solution! Give them a call at (336) 374-5318 and let them know you're racing in the Yuki-BAR Adventure Race. Paul has both canoes and kayaks available for rent.

Yuki-BAR Start/Finish Location

The start/finish area for the Yuki-BAR will be at Camp Hanes, 1225 Camp Hanes Road, King, NC 27021.

At this time, we are planning for teams to make a boat drop before the race. Directions to the boat drop location will be posted the Monday before the race. Please plan on giving yourself 1.5 hours to make the boat drop before your race briefing (see the Schedule for briefing times).

On-site lodging options at the Camp include tent camping ($10 per person) and cabin bunks ($25 per person). These lodging options are available both Friday and Saturday nights. Please contact Michael Raines at (336)983-3131 with any questions, to make a reservation, and to make payments for the lodging. (If you call and Michael is not in, tell them you're coming for the Adventure Race on the 29th and his assistant should be able to help you out.)

Yuki-BAR Lodging Options

The Start/Finish location for the Yuki-BAR events will be announced soon. In the meantime, I wanted to make sure everyone knows about the lodging options. In addition to hotels in the surrounding area, there will be camp cabin rentals available at the S/F, as well as tent camping.  Both options are available for Friday and/or Saturday nights (although the 24 hour racers will be otherwise occupied on Friday night).

Both the 24 and 12 hour courses will end at 7pm on Saturday night, so the on-site lodging options are perfect for you to enjoy the free post-race meal, a shower and then a well-deserved night's sleep, without having to pack up and drive somewhere else first!

These options are available for team members and a few moral-support people (support teams on the course are not required/allowed). There are camp cabin rentals (I believe they sleep 4, but will confirm), and tent sites. Details on reserving and paying for cabins and tent sites will be announced as soon as we have the details. Bathrooms, drinking water and showers will be available at the Finish.

Support Team Needed!

The Yuki-BAR event is in need of a team (2 to 4 people) of experienced adventure racers to assist with checkpoint flag placement and retrieval. You don't have to be super fast, but you do need good navigation skills and the ability to enjoy adventure racing activities.  In return, each person on the Team will earn 24 hours of race credit for future Bushwhack Adventure events.

We'll work with you to coordinate a flag placement and pickup schedule, and we may also call upon you to handle a few other event support tasks on race weekend. You'll also get special rules to follow, like being able to use a vehicle, GPS, pre-marked maps, etc.

If your Team claims this opportunity soon, you can also enjoy some of the remaining exploration and vetting trips as a bonus!

Contact Info @ GoBushwhack . com if you're interested or have questions!

Yuki-BAR Dates Reset!

Ok, looks like we will keep the dates (or at least the same weekend) and go for a new location for this event. We are in the process of obtaining new permits now. We might even change the name. If I said one possible name being considered is the "Yuki-BAR", would that give you any idea of where the new location might be?

BAR11 Dates Unset!

Looks like we'll be changing the dates again. Just discovered that April 30 - May 1 is the weekend of Merlefest. The area will be congested and all regional lodging will be filled, so we're looking for a new weekend. Stay tuned for updates!!
